The Good Jobs and
Livable Neighborhoods Coalition was established in
2003 by Milwaukee area labor, faith, and community-based organizations. We convened around a plan to promote a
new model in economic development known as a community benefits agreement for the redevelopment of the
Park East corridor on the northern edge of downtown Milwaukee. We seek to speak out for those whose voices are rarely heard and whose needs are too often ignored. Our current workplan includes monitoring the implementation of the 'Park East Redevelopment Compact' (PERC), promoting civic participation in planning and the community benefits agreement model in additional economic development venues (with a focus on the establishment of a community-centered redevelopment plan for the former A.O. Smith/Tower Automotive site on Milwaukee’s northside), and supporting the expansion of community benefits standards for projects that receive tax incremental financing and other public assistance in Milwaukee. We need your help to make change. Please consider joining the Coalition and helping us organize around these issues for the improvement of our community. |
